Last night I had a night. One of my dogs, Max, was up all night pacing. He was upset about something? I believe it was the incoming thunderstorms. I have 2 dogs, Max & Millie. Both Golden Doodles, both adopted. Max is high maintenance, reckless, and keeps you guessing about everything type of dog and Millie is well trained, sweet, loving, and hyper as a 4yr old that just drank a large red Slurpee from 7-11.
So I did not sleep at all or you could say I was in and out of sleep and I kept having some really crazy dreams. I felt like I fell asleep and woke up a thousand times. Every time I woke up I got a message and it was the same each time. The message was, What you did to get where you are now is not going to get you where you want to go.
Hmmm, what the heck do I need to do then?
Well, let’s start with the fact that I’m proud of myself. I am proud because usually when I get a cryptic message from my higher self, my intuition, I don’t pay attention. Well finally, at the age of, Flock Of Seagulls, I realize my intuition is always right. Always, she just knows. So I’m going to start listening and following through with all the gold that she offers.
So starting with this gem. What you did to get where you are is not going to get you where you want to go. Now, I've heard this before and I bet you have too. All the things I’ve been doing to get me to where I am are not going to help me reach that next level I want to be sitting in. The question is, what the heck am I supposed to be doing? Apparently, no one else can answer this for me. This is my life, my circumstance and no one else will know the answers except for me, my intuition, my higher self badass bitch.
So the question is, how do I get these answers? Well, I have a plan and I’m here to share it with you today. If you find yourself stuck in this same predicament of trying to communicate with your higher self and you’re new at it. Then keep reading, I’ll be sharing everything I’m doing to move forward. By the way, I say this phrase so often lately, #moveforward I feel like I should have it tattooed to my inner wrist in some fancy script font. Might happen, who knows?
Before I get into it I want to share my perspective on intuition. I believe we all have it. It's as common as sight and smell. But it was never acknowledged. When I was a kid we were never taught that it existed or how to use it. When you don’t make something a part of the narrative, it disappears. Just like a muscle, if we don’t use it, it atrophies. As a young adult, I was more aware of it but then when I came into a very verbally and mentally abusive relationship for most of my adult life I became more and more distanced from any connection with myself. Most people who have been in an abusive relationship know, you question everything about yourself. Everything. So the intuition thing was not jiving until recently when I started actually working on my intuition muscle by sitting in stillness, asking questions to myself, and then listening to the answers.
These are the things I know to be true about our intuition.
-It’s always a soft subtle whisper when it talks to you.
-It’s never a rant with explanations that go on and on, around and around.
-It DOES NOT ever make you feel small, it does not belittle you or beat you up! PERIOD.
-We have to be able to slow down and sit in stillness to connect with it.
So there you go, that's my take on intuition. Now let’s get into what I’m going to do to get to my next level and “Do things differently” As my intuition put it.
First Step - I have to decide what it is I want. In a detailed way. What is that next level? How do I want to feel? What will it look like in my life and my relationships? I feel like when you’re going to go after any big goal you have to make the decision as to what it's going to look like. The key word here is DECIDE. Just be very clear and make sure this is your goal, your dream, and not some bullshit societal expectation or even a partner or family member's dream for you. Dream big and fierce.
Step Two - What the heck have I been doing that got me here? And, How can I change it up to fit into this new level I want to be living in? Obviously, I have no clue what will work but I can brainstorm what I think might work and test it out, adjust, and learn as I move forward. But I believe the focus needs to be on things I’ve never done before that might be scary and uncomfortable.
Step Three - Take the steps, very simply put. I’m the kind of gal that likes to just come up with the next step. One at a time. When we look at the goals we have reached and look back in hindsight, I think we can agree that we could have never guessed or planned it would happen the way it did. So I think trying to plan and map it perfectly to how you think you’ll get there could actually limit you and I think it's a bit of a time killer. It could also make you feel overwhelmed if it's a big goal. You could look at the whole plan and say, holy shit, that's a lot! I’ll never get there and then just give up, procrastinate, and remain stuck.
So as I said, I’m a firm believer in what is the next small step and that's it. Then decide, did that work? If yes, go to the next step immediately. If it didn’t work, then why? What can I learn? How can I shift or adjust? Then move forward from there. Also immediately.
So there you go, this is my plan. To change the way I do things on every level. My work, how I think, how I show up, how I network? All of it. I am now the new Tina:)
