Get Unstuck Series - Celebrate Your Starting Point

In order to get where you want to go, to reach those big goals & dreams, you need to know where you are starting. You need to acknowledge yourself, and all the successes and struggles you’ve experienced.

 

Just like when you're driving somewhere using a GPS, you need a starting point and then a destination in order to get to where you’re going successfully.

 

Your life is the same way so today we are going to talk about how we can acknowledge, celebrate, and then activate ourselves to move forward in order to get out of that stuck position.

 

We are going to take a fun and quick assessment to see where you might be out of balance in your life and then we will focus on how to find out what our core values are. Only after this can we start to dream big and then start to move toward those dreams.

Starting with the assessment, as long as you’re not driving, grab a pen and paper, otherwise just listen for now and do the assessment later.

name a bunch of different areas of life, and you're going to quickly rate them from 1-10. One is being so very crappy and ten is absolutely fantastic.

Now don’t overthink it, whatever pops into your head just write down that number. 

This is not a judgment session this is just a way to see one, your starting point, and two,  where you can use some self-care. I’ll also teach you a process where you take action and have a positive ripple effect on your entire life. So let’s get started.

Home Environment - 

Self-Care

Romantic Relationships - 

Family Relationships - 

Friends - 

Social Life - 

Money - 

Career - 

Self-Improvement - 

Spirituality - 

 

Now that we have our numbers, circle everything that is a five or below. 

If that's none of the areas, congrats! Just circle the lowest three.

 

If they are all below 5, circle the lowest three.

 

This is where we go deep. Out of the three circled areas, which one, if it was absolutely perfect would fix all the other areas? It’s the one that is currently screwing everything up.

 

As an example, if your three lowest areas were, fitness, romantic relationships, and social life. 

You might say to me Tina, if I were fit I would feel more confident, then it would be earlier for me to date and go out socially more. Now it’s not usually that simple but that's an easy example.

 

So the next step is to write your core value statements in each area, starting with that one area you chose.

 

In order to make good and easy decisions, we need to get clear on our core values. What is important to us deep down to our core. 

 

It is absolutely necessary to know your value before your start in the direction of your dreams. These core values will keep you on track. They will keep you on track because you’ll be checking in with them from time to time to make sure you’re focusing your time in the right things, the things that bring you joy. You don’t want to end up stuck again, on the hamster wheel of life just going through the motions and not knowing where life is taking you.

 

What you are doing is taking charge, You are the creator of your life experience, you have complete control. This is how you grab that steering wheel and decide where you want to go!

 

This is where you get to dream big!

 

So how do we write a core value?

 

I’m going to give you a couple of questions to help you figure that out. 

 

We’re going to stick with the example from above and write a core value for fitness.

 

Here are the questions.

 

1. When it comes to fitness, What is most important to me?

 

Example: To be strong, energized, balanced, and look great!

 

  1. When it comes to fitness, how do you want to feel?

 

Example: I want to feel sexy, beautiful, and strong, and I want to have the energy to handle anything that comes my way.

 

  1. Why is this important to you?

 

Example: I want to enjoy my life and live fully. Right now I don’t have the energy and I don’t feel confident in my body. I feel like I can’t move forward until I feel better.

 

Your Fitness Core Value Statement: 

 

I want to be strong, energized, and balanced in my fitness this way I can feel sexy, beautiful, and energized then I will feel confident in my body and have the energy to handle what life brings my way

 

It’s that simple!

 

There are a few rules though, so let’s go over them.

 

These are your values. Not what society expects of you, not what your partner wants, not what your parents want, not what your kids want, and not what's acceptable to your friends and work colleagues.

 

Get all of those expectations out of your head and really tune into yourself. That person you know is there buried under all those expectations. 

 

No one else has to know about these right now, but I will tell you. If you really want to live and dream big, they will find out because you’ll be living your values.

 

But don’t worry about that now. Right now your goal is to dig deep and ask yourself what's really important to you.

 

This is your first step! So your action step for you this week, if you really want to move forward is to write out all your core value statements.

 

Then next week I’ll give you the next step.

 

After you go through each area and write out all your core value statements

 

 Then you celebrate. This is your new starting point! This is exciting. So put on your favorite song and dance around the house like a freak and celebrate you doing the work.

 

Get excited, you're about to start your dream life!!

P.S. Don’t stress over getting this perfect. There is no right or wrong core value statement and they will change as you change. You’ll know when you need to do this because they won’t feel right anymore.

So the key to this exercise is progress, not perfection!
