Allow Rest To Gain Clarity, Energy, & Confidence

We all know that we need to allow ourselves to rest in order to put our best version of ourselves into the world but very few of us actually do this.

 

This is just one of the pressures we put on ourselves, to do, do, do, and then do more. 

 

We also don’t allow ourselves any time to feel the negative feelings that are just a part of life. 

 

You see there is this pressure to always be positive, to raise our vibration, to be a bright ray of sunshine in order to attract this same energy into our lives. 

 

The truth is, it’s not just okay for you to be not okay, but it’s also necessary to be not okay in order for us to process these feelings.

 

If we mask these feelings, if we push them down and try to hold them there. They will resurface, they are still there, and you can’t positive mantra the shit out of them. 

 

There is a saying that Wayne Dyer said and I’m sure I’ll screw it up a bit, but here it goes. When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out, what comes out when you get squeezed?

 

Meaning when life serves you some crap and puts pressure on you, what emotions come out. 

 

Well, whatever is in there, and if you’re filled with boxed-up emotions they will come out. 

 

Here are a few things to think about:

 

  • Stop shoulding yourself to death. Stop saying I should do this, or I should feel this way. Ask yourself truly how you feel and allow yourself to just be okay with that. Cry if your sad, and scream if you're angry. Allow yourself to just be there. 
  • Allow what I call, A Pity Party. When I’m feeling shitty, I always allow myself a day to just be there. I call it my pity party. The key is, don’t stay there. Give yourself the space and then move forward with some positive stuff. What is amazing about this is as soon as your start allowing yourself this space, you start to be able to move through it quicker. There is no inner fight to stay positive. You just allow yourself to feel shitty and it moves through you quicker. I now don’t need a day anymore but usually just an hour or so depending on the situation. 
  • Feelings always pass. They always will move through you but only if you allow them. Remind yourself of this while you’re processing them. 
  • Always ask for help if you feel that is what you need. EVERYONE needs help sometimes, Whether from a friend or a counselor. Don’t waste your time thinking about it. If you need help, ASK. 
  • You will not fall behind, miss out, or lose something if you take this time for yourself. As a matter of fact, you will gain from this. When you allow yourself to process feelings you also allow yourself the rest and recovery you needed. From this comes, clarity, more energy, and confidence in yourself and your ability to support yourself. This makes you feel like a badass!

 

I really great way of looking at this is from an athlete's perspective. Hold on, don’t run away if you are not active. It’s just a perspective. 

 

Athletes work their bodies really hard in order to be the best. They are coached to do this. But what a lot of us don’t see is them resting and letting their bodies recover. This is when their muscles actually grow. If you don’t let yourself get the rest and recovery you need you will not better or stronger. You might even get weaker. 

 

Rest and recovery are as important as the workout itself. 

This is how life is too. If you don’t give yourself this space. It’s really hard to keep going with the strength you need to feel good or even great. 

 

This deep-level self-care practice is so important and so be mindful of when you need this space and then give it to yourself. You will be stronger for it.
