Live With Purpose Series - Decluttering To Create Space For The New

One of my favorite things to talk about is decluttering and some of the amazing benefits that come from it.

You might think, what does this have to do with living with purpose?

Let’s talk about that.

When you create space in your life, whether it be physical space or mental space, you automatically make room for all the new things you’ve been trying to manifest into your life.

If you’ve been trying to bring something into your life for a long time, physical or mental if there is no space or time for it, then how can it come in? It literally has nowhere to go.

In this episode of the SASC podcast, we will talk about how decluttering creates space and time for you to live an amazing life.

How many times can you remember wishing, hoping, and wanting for something in your life and it just doesn’t come? So frustrating. Then you make a shift of some sort and poof, there it appears.

Maybe you’ve been trying to start a business on the side while still at a full-time job. Things might be at a snail's pace and then as soon as you lose that job or give your notice, things take off. It’s because you made the space for it.

Maybe you want to hire and new employee but you're not sure if you're ready, if you have enough work for them, or if you have enough income. You take the leap, you hire them, and then your business increases. You made space for the new clients with the new employee.

It can be scary to do this sometimes, to let go. When you master this though, this is when you can create magic in your life.

Decluttering space doesn’t just create space for the new. It reduces friction in your life and helps things flow better. When your space in in flow, you’re in flow, it reduces stress and anxiety too. You can see how this can help create a better environment for more success in your life.

Decluttering your mind creates the same results. The more you can clear your mind the better things will flow.

How do you declutter your mind?

Good question.

This can look like journaling, or what I like to call a mind dump. All that stuff stress looping in your head, get it all out on the paper and create some space in that brain of yours. This is a great exercise to do before bed so that you can sleep better.

Also in the morning, a lot of us have heard of morning pages from the book The Artists Way by Julia Cameron. This consists of writing three pages of whatever is going through your head at that moment every day. This in turn creates space and flow for creativity.

You can also do this by removing anything that causes friction in your everyday life processes. Some of your daily processes might include, getting ready in the morning, getting the kids ready for school, how you cook meals, and how you work out. In business, this would be called your SOP Standard Operating Procedure. How can we make these things easier, how can we make them run smoother, how can we make them more efficient so that we have more time and space for all the amazing stuff in our lives?

Dirty dishes and the coffee story

There are so many ways to declutter in our lives. In the end, it all creates the same outcome for us.

  • Less stress and anxiety.
  • More time.
  • More space.
  • More ease and flow
  • Better success.
  • More joy and peace in our everyday lives and businesses.

It’s a pretty big payoff and what's cool is, decluttering always instantaneously feels good while you're doing it. It’s just not that hard to do!
