What if the same drive that once made you unstoppable is now burning you out?
If you've ever been that type A kind of woman and now you're realizing that old
hustle habits aren't working for you anymore, this episode is for you.
I've lived this firsthand. I used to live in full speed, go mode, I'd love to push,
thrive and chase, but over time my nervous system and honestly my soul just couldn't take it anymore.
So what do you do when the way you've always achieved success starts to feel misaligned?
Today I'm sharing how I've been learning to step into my goals with kind of a gentle passion,
replacing pressure with peace and hustle with intuition. It's not about giving up on your ambition,
it's about channeling it in a way that feels good and honors your energy. We're diving into the
energy you bring to your goals. How to soften your strategy without sacrificing your results
and the power of aligned inspired action. Let's get into it.
You're listening to the Soul Aligned Self-Care Podcast. I'm your host Tina Stinson and I had
a stroke at the age of 39 from stress and burnout that shook my world. Now I'm laying it all out.
The deep-level self-care practices and mindset shifts that I needed that kept me healthy, balanced
and thriving. Join me in this intimate space as we explore healing, resilience and a soul's journey
to alignment. This is where real conversations about deep-level self-care happen. Let's get into it.
Hello and welcome back to the Soul Aligned Self-Care Podcast. My name is Tina
Stinson and I want to thank you for joining me today and spending some of your free time with me. I
am absolutely honored for those of you that come back every week and for anyone new that's joining me
today. So this week's episode is something I am very passionate about right now and something that I'm
just kind of in the midst of working on myself. I haven't mastered this and I wanted to share this
with a lot of people because I feel generally a lot of people are beginning to step away from the
hustle culture and realizing how bad it is not just for their nervous system but just for their whole
entire life, their relationships just about everything really. So if you would consider yourself
like this type A personality or just somebody who's a real go-getter, whatever you want to call it,
how can you step into your goals with a gentle passion? And I'm going to kind of get into like what
I mean by this and then what I've been doing to make this shift that has really been working
magic for me. I feel so much better in my body. So I do consider myself somewhat of a type A person
but it's really hard right now to be this type of person in this very disruptive world. And what I
mean by disruptive is we're taking in so much negative fear kind of mongering information and if you
really tune into it you could really put your nervous system on higher alert and there's this very,
very, very intricate balance of staying informed with what's going on in the world but also protecting
your energy. So I find this to be very difficult and I've had to work extra hard to keep my nervous
system calm because I'm just the type of person who has a lot of anxiety and stress like it comes
into my body very easily. I'm very tuned into it or things I feel things very deeply if that makes
sense. So I've had to really, really work at this. So I have come to realize that I need to shift
in order for me to live and thrive in this new world circumstance that we're dealing with.
Since I can't control the circumstances around me I've learned to change the way I expose myself
to those circumstances and more importantly how I respond to them. And that's what this is about.
This is about being in business for yourself or having just like this very high energy career
so to speak. It's a nice way to say it I guess but this is what I'm talking about today.
Anyway, even if you're feeling that it's really hard to step into any type of goals, whether you're
an entrepreneur or a business person or whatever, then this episode will be very helpful to you.
So I have to say that my nervous system has just been on like high alert for a little while now
and while I can manage that with the somatic practices that I do on a daily basis, which I've definitely
stepped up right now. The moment I start pursuing my goals in the traditional way that I normally did it,
I tend to revert back into like stress mode, anxiety mode and even though I always considered this
type of stress to be a good stress that drives stress, it used to serve me. It fueled my drive.
It got results but now it pushes me behind like beyond those healthy limits because I feel like I'm
already on the edge and so it even though it used to be very healthy for me, like a healthy type of
stress, it doesn't feel that way anymore. So how do I or how do we move forward in a new way? One
that's kind of like rooted, like one that I should say is not rooted in like that hustle culture, right?
That's that no longer serves us and probably really never did. And how do we move into something
more aligned with the way we want to feel? So I know that this post is not going to resonate with
everyone. You know some of you wouldn't consider yourself type A and you might be thinking, I don't
know what she's talking about, but for those of you who do, I see you, I feel you and I know exactly
what this feels like. So every time, every time like from from now to in the past that I wanted to go
after something, achieve something, I'd go into like this different mode. Let's call it maybe go
mode, which sounds really cheesy, but I would go into this mode and nothing could stop me. It was like
a very high energy driven state that felt great at the time, but with the added levels of stress in
today's world, it just doesn't feel good anymore. And I've been working on a new way to move forward
of my goals, one that still brings me to the finish line, but actually feels good while I'm getting
there because it's really not all about the destination. It's all about the way we feel along the way.
And we all know that it's not about what is it, it's not about the climb, it's about, I don't know,
I don't know what the saying is, you know what I'm talking about though. So let me be a little real
with you. I haven't mastered this yet, like I said a few minutes ago. In fact, when I first started to
practice this new approach, I kind of felt like a failure. I was so used to like being in that do, do,
do, I have to do this, I have to check off all the boxes. I honestly thought that I was losing momentum
and that I, you know, I once relied on this moment, this momentum I would create in my body,
my whole life. But I reminded myself that circumstances only mean what the meaning that I give them.
So I looked at the facts and what I found out was I still succeeded. I still made it to the finish line
and pretty quickly too, sometimes quicker. And the difference was my energy, my approach, the pressure
I used to place on myself was gone and the way that I worked. So let's get into the key changes that
I've made to continue being that go getter, but just in a more chill kind of soul aligned way.
So the first thing I want to talk about is the energy that I carry now when working towards a goal.
So in the past, when I approached my goals, I had that like let's go energy like think, like picture,
like the football team bursting onto the field before the big game, like that kind of energy.
And it was exhilarating and it worked until it didn't, right? Now I begin by just tuning in how I want
to feel when I achieve what I desire. So I think about the goal, what success looks like when I get there
and then I tune into those feelings that I will have. That's what I'm really after. That's what we're all
after. So then I let those feelings lead. I keep those feelings in my body. It's almost like a visualization
kind of thing. I close my eyes. I visualize me succeeding. How is that feel? Let me feel the feelings in
my body like that kind of thing. So this kind of, this relaxed kind of joyful, feel good energy is
so much better for my nervous system. And it feels so good to be in that energy of success before
you're even there. It's almost like, I think this is one of the things that brings you closer to that
goal faster even if you're not working under that really, that hustle momentum. I also do like every
morning and morning energy check in and I would like, I recommend this to my clients. I recommend this
to everybody. It just helps me shift into an intuitive magnetizing, manifesting kind of mindset that
feels aligned with attracting rather than chasing things. So like, so and my body responds better to
this. So I really just close my eyes, take a few deep breaths, see how I feel in that moment. What do I
need to give myself that day? Even do this maybe a few times a day. I actually set a reminder on my phone
that just says energy. So that's my that's my reminder. I do it three times a day. Do I do it every time
when that, when that reminder goes off, not every time because sometimes I'm just busy doing something.
Like if it went off now, I'm not going to be like, hold on a minute. Let me do my energy check. But
I try to do it every time that goes off. It's just a good reminder to check in with yourself.
And it's just it's just the it takes like a couple of minutes and it's just like the easiest type of
self-care to implement. So that's the first part, like getting your body in the right energy when you're
starting your day. Now, the way I approach to go is different. So this is this part has evolved a lot.
I used to make like long elaborate to-do lists and let me tell you, I love to do lists. I still make
to lists. I just do them a little differently and four different things. But I love I love checking
things off of to do lists. I don't know all those lists people out there. You know who you are. You know
how good it feels to make make that little check mark or sometimes I use like highlighters and I cross
it out like that. I am just a list girl throw and throw. But the structure was like too rigid. It left
zero space for magic. So to speak it happens, you know the magic that kind of happens when you're
tapped into your intuition and like that natural energy flow in your body. Right. So here's a quick
exercise to kind of show you what I mean by this. So think of a big goal that you've achieved
in the past. And now think about the actual path that you took to get there. I'm willing to bet that
it wasn't exactly what you expected or planned. Okay. So when you write out these very rigid plans
checklist, whatever you want to call them and you're trying to stick to them because you feel like
oh this is this is going to get me to where I need to go. It kind of closes you off right. So when
we overplan we accidentally close ourselves off to that creative unexpected you know synchronicities
opportunities. We close our ourself off to a lot of things. We're not going to see them because we're
not open to see them. And sometimes there are better ways that our goals could come to life than
what's on our checklist. So I used to like push harder when something didn't go as planned on my
checklist and I would just make it happen. I'm pushing I'm pushing right. And I often did you know
I mean I always got to what I wanted to achieve but at the cost of burnout and sometimes when you're
pushing against something that's not meant to work out it takes longer you know. And that's why I think
I reach these goals a lot quicker now even though I'm not working as hard. So now I just focus on the
next aligned step which can be really hard to do if you're a planner. Okay. So I ask myself where am I
right now? What's the next best step that feels good to get to where I want to go? And then I move
towards that and then I stay open that leaves me open to intuition synchronous synchronist and
kind of little unexpected surprise opportunities and shifts. Okay. And you know I often as I said
reach my goals faster and with way more ease way more ease. And so I feel like and what's good about
when you do this is it gives you more time and space to examine exactly what that step instead of
going on to the next thing immediately that's on your list your checklist that you wrote out that is
so rigid. What you can do is say okay I just took that step right. Did it work out yes or no if it
did great what's the next aligned step if it didn't work out then reflect you know like why didn't
it work out? What did I learn from it not working out? Do I need to shift? Do I need to go in a different
direction and it just like makes the opportunity available to shift a little bit instead of saying no
I got to stick to my list right. So it's just such a better way that's what I mean by that was the
thing that shifted the most it's such a better way to work. Now the next thing that changed was
the pressure that I put on myself. This has shifted a lot too okay and maybe it's my age maybe it's
just deeper self-trust or maybe it's both but now I am a proud member of the I do not clear club
I do not care club and if you know about that you know like that's like definitely a tick-tock thing
but let me explain it's not that I don't care about my goals I just no longer force them. I finally
understand that if a goal is meant for me that it's going to unfold in perfect timing and I don't need
to push I can kind of flow into it and sometimes as a reason it doesn't happen instantly whether I'm
not ready for it or other things that are around me that are happening aren't ready for that shift
to happen there's usually a reason why it's not instantaneously in my world so I don't push I flow
I trust what's meant for me that whatever is meant for me it's not going to miss me I'm not going
to lose out I'm not going to miss out and if I follow what feels good to me in that moment and what
feels aligned I will always land in the right place this ties into something I shared last week on
the blog and the podcast and like I talked about how if it's not a hell yes then it's a hell no
and I'll give you links to the blog and the podcast in the show notes so if you want to check out
last weeks you can check it out now another thing the next thing that changes is the kind of the way
I work so as I mentioned this new way of working isn't second nature yet okay whenever I tend to make
some kind of a shift in my life whether it be mindset or an actual physical shift I have to be very
intentional about it before it becomes effortless and I think that goes for everything it's it takes
some time it's not instantaneous and right now I'm still in that intentional phase so it does not
coming naturally to me yet and I know it will because that's the process I've done this so many times
that now I know exactly how it works for me and it just I have to be very intentional with the way I
do things until until I don't have to be until it works out until it becomes natural so here's
what I do I resist the urge to make a giant do list it's so hard for me and I ask just what's the
first step today and I get into a grounded headspace with meditation visualization or just even
like a nourishing morning routine like you know like I talked about earlier checking in I usually do yoga
I do a yoga knee draw almost every morning so I really really get into the right energy space that
I want to be in and I know not everybody has the time to do this but even a five minute
minute check in or a five minute breath work five minute meditation will do and I feel like
everybody has five minutes so once I'm centered I ask myself what comes next and then I take that
step then as I said earlier I pause to reflect did I get the result I wanted if not I gently ask do
I need to pivot what can I learn here and then I decide on the next align step and then repeat repeat
repeat I also tune in to how I feel what goal feels good today what do I want to work on today so
like maybe I'm working towards something with the podcast or the blog or maybe something important
with my patreon maybe something important with my meditations what do I feel like working on today
maybe I'm doing a couple of certifications right now and so do I just want to work on that today
do I really want to just lay back and go into like learning mode so what do I get to do today instead
of what do I have to do today because when your work aligns with your energy it becomes more joyful
more inspiring and just so much easier to flow into now once again I know not everyone is self-employed
and you may not have full control over your schedule and your time but you can begin weaving
these shifts into your daily life it doesn't have to be all or nothing it could be this way when you
are off you know your work hours you know just make it make it flow when you're at home or you could
slowly shift this into your workday somehow in little bits and pieces right so as I said it doesn't
have to be all or nothing so today when I set a goal there's a new energy behind it there's like an
energy of trust knowing that it's going to come to me when it's ready there's an energy of excitement
knowing that I get to work on this goal in such a relaxed fashion and then I still get to
get to that point of success and then like there's just like once again like a trust and knowing
that it's already mine right it's in my it's in my brain it's in my thoughts it's something I want
and so I know that it's going to show up in the right way or something better will show up
and my job is to enjoy the journey to move in alignment to follow the joy and to make sure the
path feels good along the way because you know let's be honest it's really about the journey not just
the destination that you're going to get to usually once we get to a destination we're like what's
the next destination so life is really about enjoying the journey on the way to all the different
destinations that you're choosing so if you're craving more of this type of energy this type of
goal setting this type of you know soul aligns life then head over to my community over on Patreon
