This is my go-to green smoothie. I make this when I feel I need to detox a little, and I'm using this term lightly. This in no way is a true detox and I believe a true detox should be done by a doctor. So what I mean by detox is. When I eat too much or maybe I eat a little unhealthy and feel bloated and yucky, this smoothie always makes me feel better. I usually will use this as a meal for breakfast or lunch once or twice a week sometimes more.
You can completely change up the ingredients and make it your own. I'll offer some suggestions along the way.
What you will need.
2 apples cored. You can also try pears.
2 stalks of celery.
Juice of one lemon. You can also try a lime or orange.
1 ripe banana
½ of a heart of romaine lettuce.
A couple of handfuls of greens (approximately 3 cups) I use a mix of whatever I got. Spinach, kale, Swiss chard, arugula, parsley, cilantro. Cilantro and arugula are strong flavors so use it lightly at first. Arugula is a great source of natural nitrates and will give a power boost to your work out!
A big chunk of ginger. I use a thumb size. Take into consideration I love ginger. This is also a strong flavor with a little bite to it...I love it. Start slow if you're not used to it.
What you need to do.
Chop everything up into small bite size pieces and add all ingredients to a blender. I use a Vitamix but I'm sure a regular blender can do the trick. I fill the blender to the top of the ingredients in the blender. This is a lot of water but I like it this way because it helps hydrate me. Blend on high until smooth. That's it, easy peasy!
Give it try and switch it up and make it your own. See how you feel doing this a couple times a week or everyday! I guarantee you will feel great!
Take care of you
